Ogun Students Urged to Uphold Cultural Values as NAOSS MAPOLY Celebrates 28th Anniversary

The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Chapter, has celebrated its 28th Anniversary in grand style, reaffirming its dedication to cultural preservation, ethical leadership, and youth empowerment.

The event, themed “Cultural and Religious Values: A Foundation for Ethical Leadership,” took place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Okelewo, Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The celebration attracted distinguished personalities, student leaders, and youth advocates from across Ogun State and beyond, reflecting NAOSS’s influence as a leading indigenous student body.

Dignitaries in Attendance

Among the notable attendees were Comr. James Olanose James, Vice President, NAOSS National; Comr. Olaosebikan Ayobami Solomon (Falz), former President, NAES MAPOLY; Adeniran Ibrahim, Special Adviser on Students Affairs to Hon. AFUAPE; and Sen. Prince Shopitan Sharafadeen, former NAOSS PRO and current Secretary-General, National Association of Remo Students (National Headquarters).

Other guests included Mr. Martins A. Manuwa, staff of the Ogun State Judiciary and Guest Speaker; Mr. Idowu, representative of the Judiciary; Comr. Shoremi Akolawole, Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogun State; Mrs. Seun Boye, Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Ogun Chapter (represented); a representative of the Nigerian Bar Association; and Mr. Ayobamigbe Yuzzuf Faloye, Convener, Youth Quake Hub Nigeria.

Also present were leaders of sister associations including Sen. Comr. Olowolagba Abdulkareem, President, National Association of Egba Students (NAES); Rt. Hon. Ademolu Toheeb, Speaker, MAPOLY SRC; and Sen. Comr. Ogunlowo Isaac, President, MAPOLY SUG, alongside NAOSS delegates from FUNAAB, FUOYE, LASU, and other institutions.

Key Messages

In his keynote address, Mr. Ayobamigbe Yuzzuf Faloye emphasised the role of young people in nation-building, stating that unity and purposeful collaboration are critical to Ogun State’s progress.

“Culture is more than tradition, it defines our identity and moral grounding,” he said, urging students to uphold NAOSS’s values with discipline and pride.

Mr. Martins A. Manuwa also commended the organisers for their excellence, charging students to prioritise personal discipline, effective time management, and leadership ethics.

“Leadership begins with self-discipline and a commitment to service,” he added.

Delivering his goodwill message, Comr. Shoremi Akolawole, NYCN Ogun State Chairman, applauded the resilience of Ogun youths in grassroots development and assured continued collaboration with NAOSS.

“Ogun State is not just a name but a legacy. We must sustain that legacy through discipline and dedication to our cultural and moral values,” he stated.
