Some of the militants holding kidnapped schoolgirls from Kebbi State have ridiculed the Nigerian government, asserting that the authorities had no part in the students’ release. They argue that it was only negotiations with “key individuals” that led to the girls’ freedom.
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the schoolgirls were shown sitting on the ground, guarded by armed men. The captors asked them to confirm the current date and year, likely to demonstrate that the footage was recent.
