“Despite being a newcomer, I was given a script to sleep with a dog. I rejected it because I can’t start off my career like that,” she said.

“Imagine my first ever movie, I am sleeping with a dog. It doesn’t make sense. Whatever you start with is what people associate you with. I didn’t want to be renowned as someone who sleeps with dogs in movies.”

The actress added that although she turned down the role, many other aspiring actresses quickly grabbed the script in hopes of getting screen time.

“I rejected that script. But immediately, I threw it down, so many girls grabbed it. I’m not sure any of them are in the limelight today.”

After walking away from the controversial production, Blessing said fate took a positive turn when she met veteran filmmaker Emeka Duru. He later helped her secure her first proper acting opportunity.

This led to her appearance in “Through The Fire”, produced by Emem Isong and starring comedian Ime Bishop Umoh — a project that marked her official entry into Nollywood.

Blessing credited Duru’s support for redirecting her career toward a more respectable and lasting path.
