He added, “This committee will work collaboratively with traditional rulers, community leaders, Community Development Associations (CDAs), and other stakeholders to implement community-based initiatives for strong and proactive security. We are proud of this step, and if we do it successfully, it will significantly improve safety across Ibeju-Lekki.”
The newly inaugurated committee is made up of seasoned stakeholders drawn from diverse backgrounds and has been mandated to focus on key security-enhancing initiatives.
These include promoting effective intelligence gathering at the grassroots level and carrying out the enumeration of commercial motorcycles (Okada), which will be identified through the use of official stickers.
Hon. Olowa charged members of the committee to carry out their assignment with a strong sense of patriotism, urgency, and responsibility.
He assured them of the local government’s full support and cooperation in the discharge of their duties.
The council chairman also called on residents of Ibeju-Lekki to support the initiative by cooperating with the committee, providing timely and useful information, and partnering with the government to ensure a safer and more secure environment for all.
The committee has been given a one-month timeline to complete its assignment and submit its findings, marking what the administration describes as a decisive step toward strengthening grassroots security architecture in the local government area.
