“Today marks the triumphant conclusion of our transformative ₦100 Million Empowerment Scheme, a journey that began with vision, sustained through commitment, and now culminates in empowering the future of Kosofe: our dynamic youth,” he said.

Four Phases, 1,000 Beneficiaries Empowered

According to the chairman, the scheme was rolled out in four strategic phases beginning on 17th November, with ₦25 million distributed in each phase to 250 beneficiaries, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 1,000 residents across all demographics.

He explained that the first phase focused on the general public across Kosofe’s seven wards, offering direct financial support to households.

The second phase, held on 25th November, targeted artisans and tradesmen whose skills drive the local economy, while the third phase on 8th December was dedicated to widows.

“Today, we complete this comprehensive initiative by investing in 250 young people who represent Kosofe’s tomorrow,” Ogunlewe stated.

Youth Empowerment as Economic Strategy

Addressing the youth beneficiaries at the final phase, the chairman emphasised that the ₦25 million youth-focused disbursement was aimed at tackling unemployment and unlocking innovation.

“This is not charity, it is strategic investment in human capital, entrepreneurial capacity, and sustainable economic development,” he said.

He noted that while young people face challenges such as unemployment and economic uncertainty, they also possess creativity, digital skills, and energy capable of transforming the local economy.

“This ₦25 million distribution aims to unlock that potential, catalyse business ventures, and create employment multipliers,” he added.

Call for Responsibility and Impact

Ogunlewe urged beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly by starting businesses, acquiring skills, and creating employment opportunities for others.

“Use these funds wisely. Start businesses, acquire skills, create jobs for others, and become success stories that inspire future generations,” he charged.

He also encouraged beneficiaries to seek mentorship, join entrepreneurial networks, and remember that empowerment comes with the responsibility to give back to society.

Alignment With National and State Agendas

The Kosofe LG boss noted that the empowerment programme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s grassroots development agenda and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ framework.

“We have empowered 1,000 residents with ₦100 million, touching every demographic and demonstrating that governance can be both compassionate and transformational,” Ogunlewe said.
