Delivering the welcome address, the Youth Coordinator, Comr. Jackson Adewale A. O., described the Congress as a defining moment for NYCN Ikorodu North, reaffirming the branch’s commitment to empowering young people and positioning them as active contributors to societal development.
A major highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Hon. Olakanmi Tijani, who challenged participants to embrace innovation, accountability, and a future-oriented mindset in youth leadership.

He emphasized that impactful youth engagement at the grassroots level remains vital to achieving global relevance.
The Congress also featured comprehensive presentations from the Secretariat, showcasing the branch’s achievements over the year, alongside Financial and Auditor’s Reports that underscored NYCN Ikorodu North’s dedication to transparency and accountability.
In recognition of excellence and service, outstanding Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Voluntary Youth Organizations (VYOs), and directorates were honored for their contributions to youth development in the local government area.
Award recipients included: Best Performing VYO: Sheriff Guard of Nigeria, Ikorodu North, Most Active CBO: Agbala Otuja Youth Forum, Best Performing CBO: Maya Youth Association, Most Outstanding Directorate: Comr. Momoh Yusroh, Best Performing Directorate: Comr. Hamzah Alagbe, and Most Supportive Directorate: Comr. Ikimot Tijani.
Special recognition plaques were also presented to dignitaries in attendance, including the NYCN Lagos State Chairman, Engr. Adigun Ibrahim, the Vice Chairman, Lagos East, Comr. Asoro Abubakri, and other notable guests, in appreciation of their continued support for youth initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Engr. Adigun Ibrahim commended the leadership and vision of the Ikorodu North branch, describing the Congress as a significant achievement.

He particularly applauded the branch’s advocacy for Continuous Voters Registration (CVR), noting its role in strengthening democratic participation among young people.
In a motivational gesture, three outstanding youths who were among the first to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were rewarded with instant cash gifts.
The Congress was further graced by the presence of the Divisional Commissioner of Scouts, Ikorodu Division, KIM Abdulhakeem Agbaje, as well as all Ikorodu North councillors, led by the Council Leader, Hon. Bose Benson, adding institutional support and credibility to the event.
