NYCN Lekki LCDA commends RBK’s administration after inspection of Key Projects

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Branch, has commended the administration of Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali following an inspection tour of recently completed and ongoing infrastructural and community service projects within the council area.

The inspection, carried out by a three-man NYCN delegation led by its Coordinator, Comrade Olabanjo, covered the renovated UPE Public Primary School, Folu, the cleared Folu beachfront, and the UPE Primary School Library at Siriwon Primary School which is nearing completion.

According to the Youth body, the visit was part of its civic responsibility to assess public projects and offer constructive feedback in the interest of youth and community development.

“As stakeholders in community development, we considered it our duty to carry out on-site assessments of projects executed by the council and to provide objective feedback where necessary,” Comrade Olabanjo said.

NYCN recalled that it had earlier raised concerns about the deplorable condition of the Folu UPE Primary School through formal reports and pictorial evidence submitted to the chairman’s office.

“We are particularly pleased that the chairman acted on our earlier report and fulfilled his promise to renovate the school,” Olabanjo noted.

“The quality of work done here is impressive and reflects a genuine commitment to educational development.”

The council praised the installation of high-standard doors, windows, and modern toilet facilities, describing the renovation as a major boost to learning conditions for pupils in the area.

Concerns over Security and Infrastructure Protection

Despite the commendation, NYCN expressed concern over the poor state of the school fence, warning that unrestricted access could expose the facility to vandalism.

“We respectfully urge the chairman to urgently fix the school fence to secure this important investment,” the council stated.

The group also recommended that exposed toilet pipes at the rear of the school be properly covered to prevent damage by pupils upon resumption.

In addition, NYCN called for the deployment of security personnel to safeguard the school facilities.

“Maintenance culture is key to sustainable development,” Olabanjo said. “We also call on the Folu Youth Leader and his team to work closely with the government to protect this public asset.”

Beachfront Transformation Applauded

The inspection team also lauded the transformation of the Folu beachfront, which was previously littered with debris and described as unhygienic.

“The difference is clear. The beachfront now looks cleaner and more appealing,” Olabanjo said. “This is a commendable achievement under the proactive leadership of Hon. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali.”

However, the council raised concerns over continued open defecation at the beach, noting that several individuals were caught engaging in the act during the visit.

“If this behaviour is not checked, it will undermine the sanitation efforts already put in place,” the council warned, urging community youths to intensify monitoring and sensitisation.

Library Project Boosts Educational Outlook

At Siriwon Primary School, NYCN praised the near-completion of a new library facility, describing it as timely and essential for pupils’ academic development.

“This library will give pupils free access to textbooks and learning materials, which will greatly enhance their academic performance,” Olabanjo said.

The youth body also acknowledged other recent initiatives by the Kasali-led administration, including the clearing of shanties in Idasho.

Rehabilitation of over 12 community feeder roads, and clean-up of multiple beachfronts across Lekki LCDA.

In a closing statement, NYCN Lekki LCDA reaffirmed its support for the council leadership.

“On behalf of the youths of Lekki LCDA, we commend Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali for his sustained investment in education and environmental sustainability,” the statement read.

“We pledge our continued partnership in promoting sustainable development across the council area.”
