AFCON 2025: Morocco crowned FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 champions

Morocco lifted the FIFA Arab Cup™ on Thursday evening following a 3-2 victory over Jordan in Doha, rounding off a vibrant period of FIFA tournaments in Qatar.

The showdown unfolded at the magnificent Lusail Stadium, three years to the day since the same venue staged the iconic FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ final between Argentina and France.

This time, the night belonged to Morocco, who impressed throughout the competition with the best defensive record, having conceded only once during their run to the tournament showpiece.

Tarik Sektioui’s side overcame a spirited Jordan, who will feature at the FIFA World Cup™ for the very first time next year and had gone into the contest in red-hot goalscoring form, having found the net ten times in five outings leading up to the decider.

The African powerhouses took the lead inside the four minutes thanks to an unbelievable long-range strike that Oussama Tannane unleashed from within his own half.

The second half saw the competition’s top scorer Ali Olwan seemingly turn the tides for Jordan as he registered a brace to put his nation in the lead with just a few minutes remaining. However, the title was ultimately decided by a double from Morocco’s Abderrazak Hamdallah – who scored a late equaliser to send the match into extra time, before the striker doubled his tally with a dramatic winner in the 100^th minute.

The trophy caps off yet another outstanding showing for Morocco in Qatar, after they famously became the first African nation to make the final four of the FIFA World Cup back in 2022.

The final stage of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025™ featured 16 African and Asian sides from around the Arab world and was played across six stadiums that had previously hosted matches at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Coinciding with Qatar National Day, the Atlas Lions’ triumph wraps up a two-month period that saw three major tournaments take place in the Gulf nation.
