Super Falcons stars Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo have been shortlisted for the prestigious CAF Women’s Player of the Year award following their outstanding performances at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Both players were instrumental to Nigeria’s impressive run at the continental showpiece under coach Justine Madugu.

Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade equally made her mark, scoring one goal and providing two assists to inspire the Super Falcons’ charge toward the latter stages of the competition.
The Nigerian duo will face stiff competition from eight other African stars, including some of the continent’s finest attacking talents.
Zambia’s Barbara Banda, who clinched the award in 2024, is again among the favourites to retain the title after another stellar year at both club and international levels.
Nigeria continues to maintain a strong presence in the CAF awards, with Super Falcons players having dominated the category for much of the past decade. The nominations of Ajibade and Okoronkwo further underline the team’s enduring influence in African women’s football.
