The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, has declared a total hunt for students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, directing troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify the search-and-rescue mission.

Shuaibu directed frontline troops to intensify intelligence-driven operations and maintain sustained pressure on the abductors during his operational visit to Kebbi on Monday, 17 November 2025.

According to his statement: “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he charged.
The Army Chief also held a strategic engagement with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as critical partners in the operation. He encouraged them to work closely with the military, using their deep knowledge of the terrain to help track down the criminal.
He also added that both groups must work in synergy. “Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he emphasized.
As part of his visit, Gen. Shaibu paid a condolence visit to the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, as well as the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji. He assured them of the military’s unwavering commitment to rescuing the abducted girls unharmed and returning stability to the region.
Gen Shaibu further urged troops to uphold professionalism throughout the operation. While calling for resilience and discipline, he reminded them to act strictly within the rules of engagement as they work to restore peace to Kebbi State and neighbouring states.
