Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to declare an immediate state of emergency to address Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation.
Abubakar made the urgent appeal in a statement released on his Facebook page Friday, following the recent abduction of students in Niger State.

In his reaction, Abubakar, who was the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election, questioned the federal government’s perceived inaction in the face of growing insecurity.
Describing the latest attack as “heartbreaking,” he expressed his dismay over the recurring tragedies.
“Not again. This is truly heartbreaking,” Abubakar wrote. “How many more lives must be shattered before decisive action is taken?”
