Chinese national arrested in Ogun State for alleged rape

A 59-year-old Chinese national has been taken into custody in Ogun State following an allegation that he raped a woman at a quarry site in the Kobape area.

The incident reportedly occurred on January 25, 2026. According to sources, the suspect was apprehended after the victim filed a complaint with the authorities.

A senior security official, who requested anonymity as they were not authorized to speak on the matter, confirmed the initial details. “A 59-year-old Chinese national was arrested following an allegation of indecent assault at a quarry in the Kobape area of the state,” the source stated.

“The suspect was promptly taken into custody, and the case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, for a detailed investigation.”

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, verified that an investigation is underway. “Investigation is ongoing,” Oluseyi confirmed.

This arrest highlights ongoing concerns regarding criminal activities involving foreign nationals in Nigeria. In a separate incident reported in July 2025, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested a Chinese citizen, Liang Tak You, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

He was found in possession of 50 parcels of “Loud,” a synthetic cannabis strain, upon his arrival from Bangkok, Thailand.
