Dapo Abiodun set to unveil Ogun APC landmark secretariat

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State is on track to complete a new party secretariat, described as the first of its kind in Southern Nigeria, within the next five months.

Governor Dapo Abiodun announced this during a site inspection of the ongoing construction in the Oke-Mosan area of Abeokuta. He revealed that the project is slated for completion by July 2026.

The governor detailed that the modern facility will include a 1,000-seat auditorium, dedicated offices for the State Working Committee, and parking for approximately 2,000 vehicles.

Abiodun emphasized that the secretariat will stand as a symbol of the party’s unity, strength, and resilience, reflecting a collective commitment to upholding APC’s principles in the state. He added that his administration’s legacy would be incomplete without a central hub for party members to convene, strategize, and celebrate achievements.

“It is our hope that this secretariat will be ready in another four or five months at most,” Abiodun stated. “As we approach the electioneering season, it will provide a place for us to meet, celebrate one another, and carry out all necessary party activities.”

He explained that the project was initiated after securing financial backing from friends, supporters, and sponsors of the APC from across the country.

“This will be the first-of-its-kind secretariat in Southern Nigeria,” the governor remarked. “I won’t say in the entire country because I am not certain what obtains in some parts of the North. However, as the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, I have seen several APC secretariats across the Southern region, and this stands out.”

Also speaking, the State Chairman of the party, Chief Yemi Sanusi, credited the Dapo Abiodun administration’s inclusive governance and economic development policies for the recent wave of defections from opposition parties to the APC.

Sanusi confirmed that the project has received significant financial contributions from party leaders and stakeholders both within and outside the state.

“We invited the governor, ministers, senators, and other stakeholders to support the party financially, and they have responded positively,” he said. “We do not need to boast about our efforts. If there were no tangible progress, people would not be joining us in large numbers.”

He also noted the success of the recent membership registration drive, which saw prominent figures like Professor Iyabo Obasanjo join the party. “I believe that within six months, this project will be completed,” Sanusi concluded.
