The Osun state police have stated that singer Davido was aimed at during an attack on the convoy of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Wednesday, August 19.
While the governor was visiting the Ataoja of Osogbo palace after receiving his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), his security team engaged in a gunfight with some unknown assailants.

Davido and the governor’s children were present in the convoy when the incident took place. Chaos ensued as the unidentified assailants opened fire on the convoy, prompting the governor’s security personnel to return fire.
Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed the incident, noting that initial investigations indicated that members of the Eye Confraternity were targeting Davido.
A suspect, Adebayo Taoreed, known as “Small Rugged,” a released convict and alleged notorious thug, reportedly attempted to approach Davido but was thwarted by the security team. This confrontation drew the attention of other gang members nearby, who temporarily blocked access to the palace and impeded the governor’s convoy.

Ojelabi reported that a 60-year-old man named Tajudeen Yusuf was shot and killed during the exchange of gunfire.
Following the incident, gang members reportedly fled the area but allegedly shot Yusuf in the Itaolokan region of Osogbo. Police quickly dispatched a patrol team to the scene where the victim was found in a pool of blood. He was subsequently transported to the University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, but unfortunately, was declared dead by the attending physicians.
The police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter and are escalating efforts to identify, capture, and bring the fleeing suspects to justice.
