The Federal Government of Nigeria has successfully completed 135 road projects across northern Nigeria as part of its ongoing infrastructure renewal initiative. This was disclosed on Sunday, 31 July, 2025 by Sulieman Haruna, the Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication Spokesperson to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of Nigeria, via his X (Twitter).

Speaking during a two-day interactive session organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation, Minister Alkali revealed that an additional 216 road construction projects are currently under way in the Northern region.
He also highlighted significant progress completed on road maintenance, with 312 projects completed and 50 others still in progress. “These efforts are a testament to the government’s commitment to improving transportation networks and boosting economic activities across the Northern states,” the Minister stated.

Highlighting key legacy projects, Minister Alkali mentioned several major highways currently under development, including the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, and the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Road. Such projects are expected to enhance connectivity and regional integration.
In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Minister noted that 14 road projects have been completed and commissioned. Alongside roads, other infrastructural accomplishments include the Greater Abuja water supply network Project, rehabilitation of numerous primary and secondary schools, and the commissioning of three world-class bus terminals.

The event, which included participation from the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Hon. Muhammad Idris Malagi, continues with further discussions on ongoing and future projects.
“Several other road construction, rehabilitation, and expansion works are ongoing across the country in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.” He concluded.
