A fire outbreak in the early hours of Tuesday gutted a one-story commercial building at Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, leading to the loss of property estimated to be worth millions of naira.
The incident, which occurred in the bustling technology hub known for the sale and repair of computers and electronic accessories, caused widespread damage before emergency responders were able to bring the situation under control.

Confirming the incident, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, disclosed that distress calls were received at approximately 1:55 a.m.
He said emergency response teams were immediately mobilized and arrived at the scene within 20 minutes of receiving the alert.
Upon arrival, firefighters were met with intense flames and thick smoke billowing from the commercial structure.
The building reportedly housed several businesses involved in the sale and storage of computers, phones, and other electronic accessories.

Despite the severity of the blaze, emergency responders worked swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings in the densely packed market area.
The fire completely destroyed the entire upper floor of the building, along with all merchandise stored inside. Traders affected by the incident are believed to have lost computers, accessories, and other valuable equipment.
While no lives were lost, one firefighter sustained minor injuries during the operation and was treated promptly at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
LASEMA urged business owners in the area to prioritize fire safety measures, particularly due to the high concentration of electronic goods and power sources in Computer Village.
