Job Summary
Goonite Hygiene is seeking a motivated and technically inclined Mechanical Engineering Graduate Trainee to join its Engineering and Maintenance team.

The successful candidate will receive hands-on training in the maintenance and operation of production equipment, precision tool sharpening, machine troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. The role is designed to help graduates build practical mechanical engineering skills within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the sharpening and maintenance of rotary cutting knives, slitter blades, embossing rolls, and other precision tools.
- Learn to operate grinding and sharpening machines under the supervision of experienced technicians.
- Assist in inspecting cutting edges and machine components using precision measuring tools.
- Support routine and preventive maintenance of diaper and sanitary pad production machines.
- Assist in identifying and troubleshooting basic mechanical faults and equipment breakdowns.
- Support the replacement, adjustment, alignment, and lubrication of machine components.
- Gain practical experience working with bearings, shafts, gears, rollers, belts, chains, and pneumatic systems.
- Maintain records of tool sharpening, machine maintenance, breakdowns, and repairs.
- Work with Production and Maintenance teams to minimise machine downtime and ensure smooth production.
- Follow approved maintenance procedures, work instructions, and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
- Participate in technical training and other learning opportunities provided by the company.

Qualifications and Requirements
- ND, HND, B.Eng., or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Fresh graduates and candidates with 0–2 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- NYSC graduates or candidates who have recently completed their service year may be considered.

Required Skills and Competencies
- Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
- Willingness to learn practical engineering and workshop skills.
- Basic knowledge of engineering tools and measuring instruments.
