Her Mother brought her to me – Ned Nwoko on why he marries Regina Daniels

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has refuted widespread claims that he married actress Regina Daniels when she was still a minor.

In a statement released through his Communication and Technical Action Team to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Nwoko clarified that Regina was 19 years old at the time of their marriage, not 17, as alleged by critics.

Reacting to the ongoing controversy surrounding their six-year marriage, the lawmaker said he never pursued Regina for marriage, adding that it was her mother, Rita Daniels, who introduced her to him.

“For clarity, Regina Daniels was born October 10, 2000. If she has been married to me for six years, that means she married at 19 and not 17,” Nwoko stated.

“The public witnessed her family giving her away in marriage. There were witnesses to the fact that her mother personally brought her to me. I never went after her.”

The senator’s statement follows recent public exchanges between him and Regina Daniels, who, two weeks ago, accused him of domestic violence and announced she was no longer interested in the marriage.

In response, Nwoko alleged that Regina had been struggling with substance abuse and should undergo rehabilitation, a claim that intensified public criticism.

The development has sparked outrage across social media, with many Nigerians, including celebrities, calling for Nwoko’s resignation from the Senate and condemning his alleged marriage to Regina while she was underage.
