Her appointment was approved by the Executive Chairman of the council, Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, following the Lagos State Government’s approval of a new list of Local Government Supervisors, Special Advisers, and Secretaries to Local Governments (SLGs) across the state.
With the new role, Rafat is believed to be among the youngest supervisory councillors or special advisers in Lagos State.
Speaking on her appointment, Rafat described the opportunity as both an honour and a responsibility to serve the community.

According to her, the role provides a platform to promote tourism, culture, and youth development within Ifelodun LCDA.
