Her appointment was approved by the Executive Chairman of the council, Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, following the Lagos State Government’s approval of a new list of Local Government Supervisors, Special Advisers, and Secretaries to Local Governments (SLGs) across the state.

With the new role, Rafat is believed to be among the youngest supervisory councillors or special advisers in Lagos State.
