The Lagos State Government has presented 2,000 Cowry Cards to the Lagos State Police Command to ease transportation costs for police personnel serving across the state.
The cards were presented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation and Logistics, Hassan Adekoya, to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Lagos, Simeon Akpanudom.

Under the initiative, the 2,000 beneficiaries will enjoy three months of free transportation on selected Lagos State Government transport services, including the BRT, Electric Boats, Blue Line and Red Line.
After the free-transport period, beneficiaries will receive a 50 per cent fare discount.

Receiving the cards on behalf of the IGP, Akpanudom commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the intervention, saying it would reduce the transportation burden on police personnel, boost their morale and strengthen cooperation between the state government and the Nigeria Police Force.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, assured that the cards would be distributed fairly and transparently to deserving officers and used strictly for their intended purpose.
He reaffirmed the Commandβs commitment to professionalism and accountability in deploying resources towards ensuring a safer Lagos.
