According to a police source who spoke on condition of anonymity, the assailants allegedly attacked the victim in his apartment and forced him to transfer an undisclosed amount of money before shooting him.
“A complaint was filed on Monday morning stating that he was attacked in his apartment after returning from work on Sunday night,” the source revealed. “The robbers stole his belongings and forced him to transfer money from his account before shooting him in the head.”
Residents were alerted by the sound of gunfire and later found Timothy’s body in his home.
However, conflicting reports have emerged regarding the motive behind the killing. A social media platform, Confra Naija, which tracks cult-related activities, claimed the incident was not a robbery but a cult attack.
“The Eiye cultists came to attack Sebastine’s brother, who is a member of Aye. When they didn’t find him, they turned on Sebastine,” the post alleged. “They forced him to transfer money to them, took his phone, and shot him in the head.”
Friends and clients have since taken to social media to mourn the deceased. One user, Glory Hope, described him as a hardworking and kind man.
“Very hard-working guy, why did this happen to you? A very good barber. I feel so sad since I heard the news. RIP guy,” she wrote on Facebook.
When contacted, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident but said investigations were still ongoing.
“He sustained an injury to the head and died on his way to the hospital,” Adebisi said. “The police can’t confirm if it was a gunshot or machete wound. The family reported the incident and took his body to the mortuary.”
The tragic killing has once again raised concerns about rising insecurity in parts of Lagos, especially Ojo and Satellite Town, where residents have repeatedly called for stronger police presence.
In a similar incident last October, armed robbers attacked a barbershop in the Ojo area, killing two teenage customers.
