Lagos Police detains Chinese national following allegations of sexual assault towards Nigerian employee 

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Chinese national, Bai Quang, following accusations of sexual assault and persistent unwanted sexual advances directed at his Nigerian employee, Charles Nwafor.

Nwafor reportedly filed a complaint with the police, alleging that Quang repeatedly pursued him sexually and assaulted him after his rejections.

According to a police source, the incident involved Quang allegedly pulling down Nwafor’s trousers and touching him inappropriately, among other accusations.

The source also indicated that Quang later lured Nwafor to a hotel under the guise of discussing work, where he is accused of attempting to coerce Nwafor into unwanted sexual activities.

“The advances were made without Nwafor’s consent and were continuously rebuffed by him. The suspect allegedly assaulted Nwafor by disrobing him and engaging in other inappropriate behaviors,” the source informed Vanguard.

It was further stated that Quang allegedly threatened Nwafor and dismissed him from his job after being refused.

Following the complaint, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Fatai Tijani, reportedly instructed that the case be moved from the Hausa Police Station to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba for a more thorough investigation.

The inquiry is being managed by the Diplomatic/Foreign Nationals Section of the SCID, overseen by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dayo Akinbisehin.

Additionally, the Chinese Embassy is being notified about Quang’s arrest and detention in accordance with diplomatic protocols concerning foreign individuals.
