- The Lagos state government has ensure its commitment to improving the standard of living for the residents of Igbonla community, by introducing Type A water scheme, and also sensitising the residents towards importance of water, sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) practices.
The Special Adviser on Rural development to the state’s government, Dr Nurudeen Yekini Agbaje, while speaking during the sensitization programme, highlighted that WASH is an essential pillar of Lagos State Multi-sectoral plan of Action for Food and Nutrition Security (2025-2029).

Through the theme of the programme; “Promotion of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Practices in Igbonla Community, Eredo LCDA, Yekini divulged that access to clean water, safe sanitation and proper hygiene practices directly impacts health, food safety and community well-being.
“Without clean water, people risk waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery. Without sanitation, waste contaminates our environment and water sources. This is why promoting WASH is inseparable from ensuring food and nutrition security”, Dr Agbaje said.

Echoing in the same sentiment, Mr Fadunsi Kehinde, Deputy Director, Technical Services, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural development, presented the facility to the Baale of Igbonla community, Chief Fasasi Quadri, urging residents to take ownership of the project, and also protecting it for sole benefit of the entire community.

While expressing his gesture to the Lagos state government, Chief Fasasi praise the Governor for provision of critical basic amenities for people in the rural areas. Baale of Igbonla community, also assure the government of positive usage in the community.
