Mr. Damilola Emmanuel, the General Manager of LASWA, stated that the launch event will gather key government officials, development partners, and stakeholders in the transport and maritime sectors, and will include a virtual presentation of the Omi Eko Project alongside a ceremonial unveiling by Governor Sanwo-Olu.

The Omi Eko Project aims to revolutionize Lagos’s water transport ecosystem through the introduction of over 78 high-capacity electric ferries, the implementation of digital ticketing systems, the development of intelligent terminals, and improvements in safety measures.

Emmanuel pointed out that this initiative is set to significantly reduce travel times, alleviate road congestion, and provide Lagos residents with a reliable and eco-friendly commuting option.

He described the Five Cowries Terminal, a major intermodal hub connecting land and water routes, as the perfect location for this launch, symbolizing the state’s progress towards an integrated transport system as laid out in the Lagos Urban Mobility Plan.

Additionally, he highlighted that the Omi Eko Project will enhance infrastructure across Lagos’s waterways, while also contributing to the state’s climate resilience and sustainable transport goals through advanced technology and environmentally friendly innovations.
