“The retreat was a success story of unity, learning, and rediscovery,” Comrade Sakiru stated.

He added, “For us in Lekki LCDA, it was an opportunity to build stronger connections with other youth leaders, share innovative ideas, and reaffirm our commitment to advancing youth development at the grassroots.”

Lekki LCDA’s Role in Strengthening Youth Collaboration

Comrade Sakiru noted that Lekki LCDA played a key role in both the planning and successful execution of the retreat, contributing to discussions that shaped resolutions on youth engagement and inter-LCDA partnership.

“As part of the organising team, I’m proud of how Lekki LCDA was represented. Our input helped ensure that this retreat was not just about speeches, but about practical strategies to empower young people across Lagos State,” he said.

He emphasised that youth leadership in Lekki LCDA has continued to reflect the progressive and people-centred approach of the council’s administration, particularly under the leadership of Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), whose commitment to education and youth empowerment has inspired greater participation among young residents.

“In Lekki, we are fortunate to have an administration that believes in young people. The support of our Executive Chairman, Engr. Kasali, continues to motivate us to lead with integrity and vision,” Sakiru added.

The retreat

The retreat featured a series of impactful sessions led by distinguished facilitators, including Hon. Razaq Ajala, Leader Sayleke, SAJ, Leader Seedorf, and Engr. Adigun Ibrahim, NYCN Lagos State Chairman.

Discussions centred on leadership ethics, collaboration, innovation, and financial sustainability for youth organisations.

Comrade Sakiru described the engagement sessions as enlightening, noting that they provided actionable ideas for improving NYCN structures at the local level.

“The lessons learned will directly influence how we operate in Lekki LCDA. We are returning home with renewed strategies to deepen youth inclusion, mentorship, and productive partnerships,” he remarked.

Lekki Youths Poised for Greater Impact

The retreat concluded with renewed commitments to unity, transparency, and shared responsibility among all 57 coordinators. According to Sakiru, the Lekki LCDA youth structure is ready to implement new initiatives inspired by the retreat’s resolutions.

“Our focus is to translate the knowledge gained into tangible results programs that empower young people in Lekki through education, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement,” he affirmed.

Comrade Sakiru expressed gratitude to the state leadership of NYCN and the organising committee for the success of the program, describing it as a landmark event that will strengthen youth participation across all LCDAs in Lagos State.
