In a swift response, Darren Fletcher has been appointed as interim head coach. The former Manchester United midfielder will take charge of the team for their upcoming Premier League fixture against Burnley on Wednesday.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the development, stating, “Darren Fletcher takes over Manchester United on an interim basis after Rúben Amorim is sacked.”
Fletcher, who previously served as United’s technical director and has remained part of the club’s backroom structure, now steps into the dugout at a critical moment in the season.
His immediate task will be to stabilise the squad and restore confidence while the club assesses long-term managerial options.
