Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Christopher Musa, highlighted his mother’s efforts in selling akara and akamu to provide for their family, expressing pride in her sacrifices and urging Nigerians to respect small-scale traders.
Musa made these comments during a workshop aimed at training and empowering widows and wives of Armed Forces personnel at Lungi Barracks in Abuja.

The event, titled “Renewed Hope for Families of the Armed Forces of Nigeria Through Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development,” was organized by the Ministry of Defence in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).

As the Defence Minister today, I remember my mother’s work selling akamu, which helped support me to reach my current position.
