The ordination took place on Saturday at St. Mary’s Cathedral Church, Awuwo Odofin, Lagos State, following the passing of his highly revered predecessor in May at the age of 95.

Fadeyi, now Right Reverend, said his focus would be on continuing the work of his predecessor and driving more developments.

“My intention is to continue from where he left off. We have a significant land area here for building a cathedral, a school, a mission house, and even a block of flats,” he told reporters on Saturday.

“I plan to begin this work in January, by the grace of God. By this time next year, I hope you will see a transformed structure, by His grace.”

The new bishop also outlined plans to expand the diocese’s outreach across Lagos State and to emphasise national prayer and spiritual renewal.

“We will preach the word, evangelize, and continue to expand our branches in Lagos State. Our primary focus remains prayer—prayer for peace to reign in this country.”

“Wherever there is darkness, the Holy Ghost Fire will dislodge it, and peace will prevail. I firmly believe that with persistent prayer, Nigeria will be a better nation.”

Fadeyi, who hails from Owo, was born and bred in the church, following in the footsteps of his father, who served as a primate for 24 years from 1991 to 2015.

He attended Christ School Ado-Ekiti, where he was chapel prefect in his final year.

Educated at the University of Ibadan, Fadeyi holds a first degree in English and a master’s in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management.

He has worked extensively in the private sector, including as the first Human Resources Manager at Sheraton Hotel, and later as Human Resources Controller and General Manager Administration at Nigeria News Manufacturing Company, Okwibu.
