Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has reiterated the state’s status as Nigeria’s leading destination for investment during a panel discussion at the ongoing IATF25 in Algiers.
In his talk titled “Investment Showcase: Unveiling Opportunities from Select African & Caribbean Sub-Sovereigns,” Governor Abiodun underlined the crucial impact of subnational entities in promoting the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He pointed out that intra-African trade is currently only 15 percent of total trade, hindered by inadequate infrastructure, regulatory challenges, and fragmented value chains.

The Governor outlined Ogun State’s strategy to overcome these obstacles by focusing on investments in multi-modal infrastructure, economic development hubs, and free trade zones, as well as streamlining investor processes, ensuring policy consistency, and enhancing regional connectivity.
He mentioned that projects such as the Gateway International Cargo Airport and development initiatives in Ijebu-Ode and Kajola are part of these efforts.
