A horrific early morning crash along Coastal Road in the Victoria Island corridor of Lagos has left one person dead and three others severely injured.
The single-vehicle accident occurred on Friday when the driver of a grey Lexus 350 SUV lost control of the vehicle. According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the SUV struck a roadside utility pole at high speed before flipping over.

Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, confirmed the incident in an official statement, noting that traffic officers deployed in the area reacted immediately upon witnessing the collision. Emergency crews quickly cordoned off the crash site to secure the road and coordinate rescue efforts.
With help from nearby bystanders, emergency personnel managed to pull three critically injured passengers from the wreckage. They were immediately transported to the Duck-Yard Hospital located inside the Military Zone for urgent medical care.

Local law enforcement units from Victoria Island were on hand to maintain order while LASTMA teams cleared the damaged vehicle from the road, preventing further gridlock or secondary collisions along the busy coastal route.
Reacting to the tragedy, LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki extended heartfelt sympathies to the family of the deceased victim. He issued a stern warning to drivers against overspeeding and reckless behavior behind the wheel, reminding motorists of the catastrophic risks linked to losing control on high-speed corridors.
