The Oyo State Government has announced a significant increase in monthly gratuity payments, raising the amount from ₦1 billion to ₦3 billion.

Professor Salihu Adelabu, the Commissioner for Establishments and Training, shared this information during a press conference on Tuesday.
He noted that since Governor Seyi Makinde took office, 4,612 retirees have benefited from the program.
The Commissioner explained that Governor Makinde has raised the monthly gratuity disbursement by 200%, with the new amount set to take effect in January 2026.
He praised Governor Makinde for his visionary and citizen-centered governance, ensuring that no civil servant is overlooked.
Additionally, he guaranteed that all outstanding gratuity payments will be settled by the end of the Governor’s term in May 2027.
Professor Adelabu emphasized that the Governor’s actions reflect his commitment to ensuring the welfare of retirees and facilitating timely, transparent, and effective payment of pensions and gratuities.
In his New Year address, the Commissioner encouraged everyone to foster hope, unity, and progress in the upcoming year under the proactive leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
He also wished all retirees, civil servants, and residents of Oyo State a prosperous and peaceful 2026.
