El-Rufai, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made this comment during the launch of the ADC National Contact and Mobilisation Office in Jos on Wednesday.

He pointed out that while some governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are moving to the All Progressives Congress (APC), regular Nigerians are increasingly supporting the ADC.

He expressed confidence that the party could unify Plateau State and the nation if given the chance to lead in 2027.

Despite the country’s significant challenges, the former governor emphasized that there is hope for positive change under effective leadership. Reflecting on his close ties to Plateau State, he reminisced, “Forty years ago, I visited Plateau weekly because my fiancée was in Jos. Even after our marriage, we maintained our visits.

However, the situation has deteriorated since then. With improved leadership at both state and national levels, we can bring together the diverse communities in Plateau and restore it as a peaceful and tourist-friendly region.”

El-Rufai argued that many Nigerians are disillusioned with the leadership of both the PDP and APC and are looking for alternatives. He believes that with adequate support, the ADC could overcome the ruling APC in the upcoming elections.

“I know people are weary of the APC and PDP rule. While PDP governors are switching to APC, ordinary Nigerians are turning to the ADC. With God’s grace, 230 million Nigerians will triumph over 25 governors,” he stated.

He further highlighted that the ADC is unique in reserving 40% of its leadership roles for youth and 35% for women, promoting inclusivity within the party.

At the event, Plateau State ADC Mobilisation Coordinator, Hon. Jamilu Lawandi Datti, called on young people to rally behind the party, emphasizing the urgent issues of unemployment, insecurity, and inadequate access to quality education and healthcare, particularly in rural regions.
