According to police sources, the operation took place at an apartment located within an estate in Mende, Maryland, where officers discovered hundreds of bags containing suspected Canadian Loud.

The raid was reportedly executed with technical support and coordination involving Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu and Assistant Inspector-General of Police Olohundare Jimoh.

Speaking to journalists at the scene, AIG Jimoh disclosed that the command had monitored the suspect for several months before finally moving in on May 19.

AIG Jimoh revealed that the alleged kingpin attempted to bribe officers with ₦500 million during the operation in an effort to stop the raid and allow time for associates to relocate the illegal consignment.

According to him, the offer was immediately rejected by the SPU commander, who documented the incident as part of ongoing investigations.

“The professionalism shown during the operation reflects the standard expected from officers deployed to specialised units,” Jimoh stated.

The police leadership described the operation as a major success for intelligence-driven policing and grassroots security collaboration.

Authorities said the strategy involved rapid containment measures, technical surveillance, and close coordination between specialised units and divisional teams.

“The professionalism shown by the SPU commander in rejecting a ₦500 million bribe and following due procedure is the standard we expect,” the police chief said.

“Policing must be close to the people, and our specialised units must work side by side with divisional teams on the ground.”

The IGP added that integrity and accountability would continue to remain central to the force’s operations.

Police authorities confirmed that all recovered exhibits have been documented and will be presented in court as investigations continue.

The suspects are currently in custody while security operatives work to identify and apprehend other members of the alleged trafficking network.
