Remo Stars vs Rivers United: Ogun Swan rallies support for NPFL champions

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State Chapter, has called all football fans and residents of Abeokuta, Ogun State, to come out en masse on Friday and rally behind Remo Stars Football Club as they begin their title defence in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Remo Stars will tackle Rivers United in match day one of the season at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 4pm.

The encounter marks the return of the NPFL matches to the new refurbished MKO Abiola Sports Arena Kuto, nine years after Ikorodu United adopted the Abeokuta stadium as its home ground in 2016.

In a statement signed by the SWAN Chairman, Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji appealed to fans to come out in their large numbers to cheer Remo Stars Football Club of Ikenne to victory.

According to Ogunsiji, a packed stadium will not only motivate the team but also show the nation the true passion of Ogun State’s football supporters.
