SKYSFOM condemns Barr. Adeyanju’s disparaging comments about defence Minister, Gen. Musa

Christopher Musa

The Southern Kaduna Youth and Students Forum (SKYSFOM) has released a robust statement in response to recent remarks made by human rights lawyer Barrister Deji Adeyanju concerning the appointment of Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence.

In a statement signed by the President, Prince Edward Kazachiang Marcus, and shared with Reporters on Saturday, the forum expressed dismay over Adeyanju’s seemingly dismissive attitude towards Gen. Musa’s military service, labeling him a “battle-tested veteran” with a long history of dedicated national service.

SKYSFOM highlighted that Gen. Musa has displayed discipline and sacrifice in his leadership role within Nigeria’s security forces, making significant strides in overcoming intricate national security issues. They acknowledged that his contributions have been widely recognized throughout the country and emphasized the noticeable gap left by his departure from previous leadership roles.

The forum emphasized that while Adeyanju, a respected legal expert, is entitled to express disagreements, such comments should be made with “proportional fairness” and based on accurate information.

They warned that undermining the efforts of senior military leaders could unintentionally diminish respect for those who have risked or sacrificed their lives for the nation.

“General Musa is our father and role model. An insult directed at him is an insult to all the people of Southern Kaduna and to every military officer who has fought and died for this country,” the statement asserted.

SKYSFOM reiterated its support for Gen. Musa and urged public figures and professionals to maintain decorum, respect, and fairness in national discussions, especially regarding individuals with important security roles.
