These systems provide reliable power, rivalling diesel generators, by generating robust daytime energy and storing it for nighttime use and outage backup.
According to organisers, the project was conceived as a people-centred response to Badagry’s long-standing electricity challenges, which have disrupted education, commerce, and household life.
The solar kits also come with flexible charging options, allowing users to draw energy from solar, grid power, or batteries, depending on availability.

The project leaders said the solar support programme is part of a broader commitment to practical, grassroots interventions that directly improve everyday living conditions in Badagry.
They stressed that sustainable energy remains key to economic growth, educational progress, and overall quality of life in the coastal town.
With this latest rollout, Badagry joins a growing list of communities turning to renewable energy as a way out of Nigeria’s persistent power crisis, signalling a shift from temporary fixes to long-term solutions driven at the local level.
