Two individuals have been confirmed dead after a man armed with a machete and knife attacked the IMAX cinemas in Lekki, Lagos State, on Friday night, August 29.
Witnesses reported that the attacker, who seemed to be under the influence of drugs, tried to enter the cinema but was stopped by security personnel.

SP Adebisi Abimbola, the police spokesperson, confirmed to LIB that the suspect, who appeared homeless, allegedly fatally stabbed one guard and injured another.

According to Adebisi, the attacker was subsequently overwhelmed by a crowd, leading to his death.

She added that the cinema’s Chief Security Officer is currently in custody, and authorities are working to collect and analyze CCTV footage from the site to identify any other individuals involved in the incident.
