The newly appointed Chairman of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Sports Council, Professor Alabi Soneye, led members of the Council, the Steering Committee, and other key stakeholders on an inspection tour of the University’s Sports Centre on Friday, June 13, 2025.
The tour provided an avenue for the assessment of the current state of major facilities within the centre, as well as identify areas in need of repairs and upgrades .

Get StartedAccording to Professor Soneye, the tour was necessary to gain firsthand insight into the usability of the facilities and to lay the groundwork for a cohesive plan towards revitalizing the centre.
His words, “We need to understand the state of what we have so we can determine what is needed to improve it. The goal is to strengthen our sports infrastructure in a way that supports both human and institutional development.”
