Tunji Disu, IG of Police has cautioned against enlisting or financing young Nigerians to partake in political violence in preparation for the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that the police will act against anyone attempting to disrupt the electoral process.
His remarks were made during the National Youth Leadership and Security Dialogue held in Abuja on Thursday, which the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) organized to celebrate the 2026 International Youth Day.

He assured that the police would uphold the integrity of the electoral process and ensure peaceful elections, making it clear that they would not protect individuals involved in violence, voter intimidation, weapon use, or property damage.
Disu urged politicians from all parties not to recruit youths, fund violent activities, or incite violence against other citizens.
He further warned against misleading young people with false promises of protection after instigating them to commit crimes, stressing that electoral violence can have enduring effects on the younger generation.
