170 foreign Nationals registers for Nigerian citizenship — Tunji Ojo

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has revealed that 170 individuals from various countries have applied for Nigerian citizenship.

In a statement released on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday, 29 October, 2025, the Minister made the announcement during a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Nigerian Citizenship (ACNC) in Abuja.

He emphasized that citizenship is a privilege, not a right, and must be earned through integrity and good character. Tunji-Ojo tasked the committee to thoroughly vet all applications, warning against illegal means of obtaining citizenship.

The statement reads, “Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that the process aligns with the nation’s goal of security, integrity, and prosperity.”

The Minister further reiterated that only applicants of impeccable integrity will be considered for approval, noting that “Nigeria remains the greatest asset to its citizens.”
