A 22-year-old man named Rabilu Sani has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl in Jakusko Local Government Area of Yobe State.
A Magistrate Court in Injiyaji, Damaturu, heard that Sani had lured the young girl into a room and attacked her last year. He was arrested on November 9, 2025, and faced court following a thorough investigation.
The judge presiding over Magistrate Court 1 declared that the evidence presented was convincing enough to warrant a conviction, leading to Sani’s sentence of 12 years without the possibility of a fine.

Additionally, the court noted that medical tests confirmed Sani is HIV-negative.
Efforts to achieve justice for the victim were led by the Yobe State Government, particularly through the work of the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Ya Jalo Badama, who played an active role throughout the proceedings.
