Nobody will fix Nigeria for us, unless we unite — Former President Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on Nigerians to collectively take responsibility for the nation’s advancement, emphasizing that genuine development will be elusive unless citizens come together to tackle the country’s issues.

Obasanjo made this appeal on Thursday at the 6th Annual Colloquium celebrating the 65th birthday of Itua Ighodalo, the founder of Trinity Church. The event, themed “The Future of Nigeria,” included discussions on the nation’s way forward.

Speaking through Prof. Adedeji Daramola from the Olusegun Obasanjo Leadership Institute, he highlighted that nation-building is a collective effort that involves everyone, regardless of their background.

He cautioned against expecting miraculous changes without intentional efforts, insisting that every Nigerian, from ordinary citizens to professionals and leaders, has a role in guiding the country.

“Unless we unite and take action to improve Nigeria, no one else will do it for us,” Obasanjo stated, noting that while leadership is crucial, actual progress relies on collective engagement and accountability.
