Security operatives allegedly attempted to arrest Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, upon his arrival at the airport on Thursday, according to his media adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye.
Adekeye stated that the incident occurred as El-Rufai was returning from a trip to Cairo.

He claimed that the agents tried to take the former governor into custody without presenting a formal invitation or warrant.

According to the media adviser, El-Rufai refused to comply with the agents’ demands to accompany them. Following this refusal, the operatives reportedly confiscated his international passport from an aide.

In a formal statement, Adekeye detailed the encounter: “Security agents today attempted to arrest Malam Nasir el-Rufai as he arrived on a flight from Cairo. Malam El-Rufai declined to follow them without a formal invitation. They however snatched his passport from an aide.”
