Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, urged women to actively mentor young girls, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, stressing the importance of values, education, and moral support.
During an interfaith Iftar and Lent breaking-of-fast event in Abuja on March 6, 2026, which united Muslim and Christian women, she emphasized the need to instill cultural values, modesty, and care for future generations.
“I challenge you to mentor a young girl from a disadvantaged background. Provide scholarship support, teach them good virtues, and help them grow into admirable women,” she stated, encouraging women to support girls beyond just their academic pursuits.

She also discussed the significance of modest attire, saying, “Teach them how to dress appropriately and cover themselves, because being naked is not beauty. We may not understand their choices, but true beauty comes from within. God will also guide our men to be discerning,” she added with a hint o f humor.
