Former Kogi West senator Dino Melaye has strongly criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the party of attempting to transform Nigeria into a one-party state. His comments follow a decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to suspend its recognition of factions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement posted on his X account on Wednesday, Melaye condemned the development as “satanic and wicked.”

He asserted that recent political realignments, including those involving Rabiu Kwankwaso, would expose the ruling party’s alleged “nefarious” agenda.

Melaye vowed that opposition figures would resist any such attempts by the APC.

“The movement of Kwankwaso and others will reveal the nefarious, satanic, and wicked characteristics of APC,” Melaye wrote. “They will do everything to turn Nigeria into a one-party state, but we will not agree. All die na die.”

Melaye’s remarks were prompted by INEC’s announcement that it had removed the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its records as National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC, respectively.
The electoral body also stated it would not recognize Nafiu Bala Gombe, who is pursuing a court action to be declared the party’s national chairman.
Furthermore, INEC has suspended its recognition of all factions within the ADC. The commission will not monitor any conventions or congresses organized by the competing groups until a substantive suit before the Federal High Court is resolved.
