The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KEPA) has organized a training programme for members of the National Youth Service Crops (NYSC) Environmental Protection and Sanitation CDS Group to enhance their knowledge of hygiene and waste management.

During the programme in Ilorin, the General Manager of the Agency, Jide Aina, said the initiative was aimed at strengthening participants’ understanding of proper hygiene practices and sustainable environmental management.
He explained that the training forms part of the Agency’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and building a network of environmentally conscious citizens across the state.

Aina noted that the programme brought together corps members from different locations and focused on modern waste management techniques and other critical environmental issues.
He urged the participants to serve as environmental ambassadors, emphasising the importance of their roles in promoting personal hygiene and maintaining clean communities.
According to him, empowering young people with the right environmental knowledge is essential to achieving long-term sustainability.
In her remarks, the President of the NYSC Environmental Protection and Sanitation CDS Group, Abolarin Sola, described the training as timely and impactful, noting that it has deepened members’ understanding of key environmental challenges.
She reaffirmed the group’s the commitment to supporting government environmental policies through active participation in sensitisation campaigns and community-based sanitation efforts.
