Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, has visited the site of a fatal road accident that resulted in the death of a Lagos State University (LASU) student, assuring the student body that justice will be served.
The visit was confirmed in a statement released Sunday night by the police command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi.

The statement detailed that the commissioner, along with other senior officers, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the scene in the Igando area as part of the ongoing investigation.

During the visit, Tijani met with representatives from the university’s Students’ Union to address their concerns following the tragic incident. He praised the students for their composure and for maintaining peace despite the emotional circumstances surrounding the loss of their colleague.

Adebisi confirmed that the commissioner guaranteed the students that the driver responsible for the accident would be arraigned in court on Monday to face prosecution.

The deceased, identified as Azeezat Abdul-Rasheed, a 300-level student, was struck and killed by a vehicle around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Following the incident, students gathered in protest at the Area M Police Division in Idimu.
A video posted on the social media platform X by a user named @Khennybass showed students demanding justice for their late colleague, alleging that police officers were attempting to protect the driver involved in the crash.
In the official statement, the command’s spokesperson reiterated its dedication to transparency and the protection of all citizens. She also offered condolences to the family of the deceased student.
