Team Lead, Internal Control & Compliance job at Guinea Insurance Plc in Lagos

The role is for a “Governance Architect”who will design, implement, and oversee a robust internal control and compliance framework. It focuses on ensuring strict adherence to NAICOM regulations, the Insurance Act, AML/CFT guidelines, and other statutory requirements while supporting Executive Management and the Board Audit Committee.

Key Responsibilities

– Design and maintain a strong internal control framework across the organization.

– Monitor compliance with NAICOM guidelines, AML/CFT, and other regulatory requirements.

– Manage a compliance calendar for all statutory and regulatory filings.

– Conduct periodic business process reviews to identify and close control gaps.

– Document policies and control activities across departments.

– Monitor control effectiveness, escalate breaches promptly, and drive corrective actions.

– Prepare high-quality reports, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and dashboards for Executive Management and the Board.

– Collaborate closely with senior leadership on governance and risk matters.

Requirements

Education: BSc/BA in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: 8–10 years of relevant experience in internal control, compliance, or audit (preferably in insurance or financial services).

Skills & Knowledge: Deep mastery of NAICOM Regulations, Insurance Act, and AML/CFT laws.

– Strong analytical skills for risk/control assessments and process documentation.

– Excellent report writing and communication skills.

– Proactive, self-driven, and able to work with minimal supervision.

– Proficiency in developing monitoring dashboards and KRIs.

Advantageous Certifications: CISA, CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
