137 students bagged first class honour at 18th LAUTECH convocation

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, on Thursday graduated a total of 10,223 students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at its 18th convocation ceremony, with 137 of them earning the coveted First Class honours.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rasaq Kalilu, announced these figures at a press briefing held at the institution’s Council Chamber ahead of the formal graduation ceremony, offering a comprehensive breakdown of the academic performance of the outgoing cohort.

Of the 10,223 graduates, 7,641 were undergraduates while 2,582 proceeded from postgraduate programmes. Within the undergraduate category, 3,438 students graduated within the Second Class Upper and Lower divisions, while 1,008 others exited with Third Class honours and 37 with a Pass. The institution’s Nursing Science department produced 1,021 graduates, 17 of whom earned Distinctions, 973 passed with Credit, and 11 with a Pass.

On the postgraduate side, 596 students will receive diplomas in various academic and professional disciplines, while 1,850 will be awarded master’s degrees.

Nine students earned the Master of Philosophy degree, and 127 distinguished themselves through doctoral research to receive the Doctor of Philosophy degree.
